Career-type interest may predict future success

The kind of occupation high school students are most interested in may predict their future success. Using Holland Codes, one recent study found occupation type preference in high schoolers was better than IQ and a measure of personality traits at predicting employment status, income and marital status 10 years later: Vocational interests assessed at the end of high school predict life outcomes assessed 10 years later over and above IQ and Big Five personality traits.
